CHICAGO, Nov. 29 — The new CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution marries the flexibility of the industry’s first wireless, cassette-size detector with the productivity of a fully automated DR suite. Because the CARESTREAM DRX-1 detector offers virtually unlimited positioning and eliminates the need to move a patient around a fixed detector, healthcare facilities are able to improve efficiency and enhance patient care. The DRX-Evolution was demonstrated at the Radiological Society of North America meeting and is available worldwide.
The DRX-Evolution is a new modular digital radiography system than can simplify and speed the capture of even the most challenging views. After selecting a patient from the worklist, an auto-positioning feature equips the system to position itself for the examination. The thin, lightweight detector delivers enhanced patient comfort that is especially important for trauma cases. The detector can be removed from the Bucky tray for tabletop views, and the system’s wall stand can be positioned by the table for cross-table views. Images are communicated over a secure wireless network and appear on the console in seconds.
This versatile system’s modular design can be easily expanded to address changes in radiology workflow and number of exams. It offers a wall stand with six-axis motion and a four-way float elevating table. Healthcare providers can elect to use one, two or three detectors to perform a wide variety of general radiology and trauma exams.
Carestream Health’s image processing software provides exceptional image quality, and a consistent user interface for the company’s CR and DR platforms improves technologist productivity and reduces the need for training.
Because the DRX-1 detector is the same size as a 14 x 17 inch (35 x 43 cm) cassette, it can use standard grids. Preview images are available in about six seconds. Patient images are transmitted to existing HIS/RIS or PACS systems over a secure wireless network.
The CARESTREAM DRX-1 System is also available for use with existing x-ray systems and enables facilities to quickly and affordably convert from film- or CR-based radiography to the enhanced efficiency and image quality offered by DR technology.
Carestream Health offers a broad portfolio of CR and DR systems that equips hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, orthopedic practices and other healthcare providers with digital image capture for x-ray exams. Optional KODAK DRYVIEW Laser Imaging Systems are available for printing diagnostic images onto radiographic film.
